In November 2025, students from the upper years at 4 local secondary and primary schools were invited to submit an application for a careers day, lunch and a game drive hosted by the Community Rhino Conservation Initiative and Imvelo. They were asked to explain why they want to come to careers day, what they want to be when they’re older and include a drawing of an animal or interest they have. The responses varied in jobs from pilots, teachers, guides, cobra scouts, chef and more! The enthusiasm and eager children demonstrated a clear desire to learn and want to see different job opportunities and paths they can take.
On 24 November 2025, we welcomed 32 students - eight from Ngamo Primary School, 8 from Ngamo Secondary School, 8 from Ziga Primary School and 8 from Mlevu Primary School. They heard from a carpenter, a nurse, a mechanic, a chef, a plumber, a manager, a guide, a lodge room hand and scouts (both Cobras and Cheetahs!). They enjoyed lunch at the lodge and a game drive, as well as some time with the community rhinos. The idea was to inspire and get them excited about their futures and encourage them to work hard in school.
