Building the future of conservation

Ngamo grade 7s celebrate wildlife

At the end of October, Ngamo Primary school held their farewell party for the grade seven class and Guide Vusa took them on a game drive, as well as a tour of Camelthorn lodge and talked them through a career guidance exercise. Our team explained to the students the different roles and responsibilities within Imvelo, including guiding, management and wildlife conservation. The learners, who are looking forward to attending Form 1 next year, were delighted by the experience.

As Vusa said: "It was heartwarming to see the students' enthusiasm and curiosity about the possibilities that exist within the wildlife and tourism sectors."

Ngamo Secondary Form 4s finish their exams and enjoy a safari

In the middle of November, after their exams, 30 students from Ngamo Secondary, all Form 4s, visited the Community Rhino Conservation Initiative and its rhinos Thuza and Kusasa. They heard from scout Target Ndlovu and learnt about rhinos and other animals. They also enjoyed snacks at Camelthorn Lodge and information sessions with the fantastic staff there and were taken into Hwange National Park with guides Ndaba and Deliane were they enjoyed spending time with different animals including elephants and lions.

As Target said "These students asked so many questions about rhinos, animals and conservation. Their interest levels are so high. It's good we can keep them interested and help them understand more!"
